Putting your infant in the Jimny:
Fun in a two door vehicle

Via the rear door of the Suzuki Jimny:

This method requires putting the infant into the car from the rear door, over the back seat.
And we think that this give our Suzuki 4WD the edge over most two door vehicles.
Sure the rear storage area is small, but it means easier access to the baby seat from the back!

Remember:

  • The rear headrest of the infant car seat needs to be removed.
  • The second rear headrest was removed sometimes if more stuff needed to be loaded - so fold that backseat down.  But when Mum needs to sit in the back to be with baby that headrest is put back on, otherwise there is no way to relax in that seat!  Post-partum mother needs all the comfort she can get!
  • Tall people (over 160cm tall) are easily able to load the baby into the infant car seat via the rear door.
  • Mum is 160cm tall and is just able to load the baby into the car this way - she needs to use her knee on the bumper bar as leverage.

Shorter people have to put the baby in while sitting in the rear passenger seat.

Via the rear passenger seat - driver's side door:

To put the baby into the baby car seat, sit in the rear passenger seat first - via the driver door, a passage that is squeezy even without carrying a baby.

And if you are exiting facing outward, the photo below shows how awkward it can get.

This awkwardness may be common to all two door vehicles. But don't worry, life get's easier when the baby is old enough to face forward in the Jimny!
